Student have expressed concern over the restricted access to Senate House Library when students will be finishing their dissertations.

The movement of Senate House library collections into the newly refurbished areas of the library are likely to cause restricted access to some collections during the summer.

The library is home to The School of Advanced Study (SAS), and closure is likely to coincide with SAS Masters and PhD students preparing and researching their final dissertation papers.

A Facebook group opposing any closure of the library, says: “This decision was taken with no consultation or communication with SAS students; the impact of which is sure to affect our studies and the reputation of our university.”

A Senate House Library news feed states: “Senate House Library will remain open over the period of the moves this summer, however, given the scale of the project there will be restricted access to collections.”

A meeting for students to discuss the proposals is being held on Tuesday May 17 1-2.30pm at ULU on Malet St. Room TBC.
